Summer of Andrew: Update
Due to my beach trip earlier today, the Summer of Andrew™ is officially in full swing. Basically, that means I’ve done everything on my list at least once. Let’s break it down…
Bike-riding
Check. I got a hand-me-down bike shortly after making that post and have been using it frequently. Ideally, I’d be riding it at least once a day instead of every two like I am now, but it’s something that’s always on my mind.
Beach-going
As mentioned, I did this today, with plans to do it again as soon as next week. Planning things out, I thought that ideally, I’d go to the beach at least three times this summer, although I’d be very happy to go more than that. Something about the beach embodies the kind of freedom that I’m craving right now.
Fishing
Done multiple times, often hand-in-hand with biking. This is also something I’ll probably do more of later on.
Driving
Driven on the road twice now. Getting my license is an ongoing endeavor, where outmaneuvering every roadblock yields another. Hrm, that sentence had a lot of driving lingo… The current block is a mandatory 8-hour class on the devils of drinking, drugs, and mixing them with driving. Should be fun.
Events: Six Flags (May 14th), Google I/O (May 19th-20th), E3 2010 (June 15th-17th)
Past, past, and past. Awesome, awesomer, and awesomest. My Six Flags trip was great and a good point to kick off this summer, while Google I/O was great and seemingly has put Google on top of the tech mindshare heap. Lastly, I’ve blogged all about E3 2010 and why it was so exciting before.
Games: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (May 23rd) and Pokemon SoulSilver (continuous)
Both beaten. And while I’ve taken a brief (one-to-two week) break from Pokemon, I plan on returning to it before the summer is over. Additionally, I’ve been using the Pokewalker peripheral that came with it every day, and have more than 265,000 accrued steps since its relase on March 14.
Honestly, the summer has been great so far. Just plain, all-out fun. While there are some gaps between the fun I’m trying to improve, I think I’ve been very fulfilled and wouldn’t be so disappointed if I went back to school tomorrow. Thankfully, I’m not, and I have at least another month or so left. Here’s to hoping this summer keeps improving as it has been! ![]()
